When Abe called me about making this ukulele, I told him that master grade koa was going to be be very expensive and might be difficult to find. I was only half right. We found this beautiful set pretty quickly at Kamuela Hardwoods.
Instead of black and white purfling, we went with turquoise and black to highlight the blue paua abalone.
The back matches the front with tight horizontal curl and lovely colors.
The center strip is East Indian rosewood that matches the binding.
The wood is so shiny that I had to turn it a little so I would get my refection in the uke.

The accents are a very pretty red mallee burl.
As you can see the curl extends to the sides as well.

The neck is Black Walnut with a carbon fiber truss rod.
The tuners are gold Gotoh Planetary tuners.

There is a side sound port so the player can hear their music a little better.
You can see the side purfling if you click on the picture to make it bigger.

The rosette and purfling are Paua Abalone with thin black and turquoise striping around the borders.
The head stock is black East African Ebony to match the fretboard and bridge. The logo inlay is crushed mother of pearl. The tuners are gold Gotoh planetary tuners.
