“Sunshine" Koa Tenor

I'm calling this koa tenor “Sunshine" because the orange, sunny tone of this wood.​
The tone is warm and sweet, as you would expect in a Koa tenor.
The back matches the front.
The center strip is East Indian rosewood that matches the binding.


The accents are a very pretty red Mallee burl.
I used black Gotoh tuners this time.

The neck is Honduran Mahogany with a carbon fiber truss rod.
The fingerboard and bridge are East African Ebony. Nut and saddle are natural water buffalo bone.


The sides have a very nice, tight curl and as always, there is a side sound port.


The rosette and purfling are Paua Abalone with thin black and white striping around the borders.​
Since I used a black ebony fretboard this time, I wanted to continue the ebony up through the head plate. However, I didn't want to do a white logo, so I came up with this compromise. I wasn't as easy as it looks, but I think it was worth it.
