“Hammock” Curly Mango Tenor

This is "Hammock". I'm calling it that because when I first played it I felt like I should be in a hammock at the beach watching the Sun go down.
This tenor never made it to wall at Island Bazaar. Before I put the finish on it, I took it to an informal uke building class and one of my friends there decided that she needed this uke, so it was her's.
The front and back are almost identical. The backstrip is a piece of curly koa that matches the binding. Many thanks to Michael at Elite Tonewoods.
This mango has a lot more green and brown than most of my mango, but it really is prettier up close than it is from afar.
The accents are a gold amboyna burl that matches very well with the curly koa binding.
The neck is black limba which matches the greenish tones in the mango very well. It has a carbon rod for reinforcement.
I didn't buff the neck this time and it makes it play a bit faster without giving it a matte look.
Top is really pretty and has a wonderful warmth to its tone. The rosette is blue puau abalone. The binding is curly koa with turquoise and black purfling.
The fretboard and the bridge are East Indian Rosewood.
The headstock is the same mango as the top
The tuners are black Gotoh Interplanetary tuners.
Strings are a Pepe Romero wound low G string with custom high carbon fluorocarbon strings.
The side sound port is for the benefit of the player.
When taking pictures of book matched curly wood it is usually difficult to show that the color is actually the same on both sides. This picture, through no fault of my own, shows that yes, the color on this top actually does match up.
